Caribbean War Crimes
Trump has deployed the US navy in the Caribbean to intercept drug boats. But it’s not a criminal interception, it’s a military execution, without due process. It may be reasonable to intercept oceanic drug runners, but not to simply execute them, by stand off military strikes that seems a bit over the top, leading to war crime accusations against the Trump Vance Hegseth.
The navy always conduct training missions. Interdiction of drug boats could function as a dual purpose without executing the runners. The drug boats, while obviously intending to import drugs into the US, use others for the illegal cross border smuggling. At the time the boats are struck by deadly navy missiles, the drugs have yet to cross the US border, giving rise to problematic prosecutions.
The navy has plenty of time, boats and sailors to capture the suspects allegedly drug running on the high seas. Immediate execution seems a bit harsh, and is contrary to fundamental due process and gives rise to charges of war crimes by the USA. Vance and his authoritarian government seem to over reach in this criminal matter using lethal military force.
The Trump administration appears to be initiating regime change in Venezuela with military assets deployed in the Caribbean. Madura apparently rigged the election there and is an illegitimate dictator. The administration should consider arming insurgents to fight for their freedoms, rather than initiating war.
China and Russia have assets in Venezuela and have indicated objection to the USA using force to perfect regime change. The socialistic Venezuela regime is an extension of the two great totalitarian powers. A war on Venezuela is a war on the interests of China and Russia.
