The Island Curtain

In American jurisprudence, judges wear two hats, the king’s law court adjudicating issues of the written law, and the ecclesiastical law court, the conscious of the equity court. In the equity court, addressing sought after equity, there are equitable defenses, one of which is latches, an unreasonable delay in seeking remedial relief. One must act in a timely manner, or be denied equitable relief.

In 1949, after WWII, Benton Woods set the stage for the new world order, specifically the prohibition against invading sovereign countries, as Russia is doing now in Ukraine. Since 1949, Taiwan has been effectively a sovereign state. China terminated war in 1949 and did not over the 75 years invade Taiwan to force unification. During this time, Taiwan has prospered and now dominates the manufacture of high performance semiconductor chips that the entire world depends upon for their prosperity.

China delay in capturing Taiwan has caused global reliance upon Taiwan chip manufacturers. This has been a detrimental reliance in that the world has relied upon Chinese delay to become dependent upon Taiwan chip manufacturers. Chinese delay for 75 years is unreasonable and has caused detrimental reliance. China is morally guilty of latches and deserves no equitable consideration.

Taiwanese chip manufacturers have placed the world in a dependent position to where now, Taiwan sovereignty is a vital critical US state interest and a global vital interest as well.

Chinese aggression in the South China Sea, the East China Sea and in the Taiwanese straights is causing consternation in the western Pacific, where Japan has now gone full confrontational, while Taiwan is arming itself.

Chinese aggression, like Russia, stems from being a large totalitarian regime that has a primary focus of expanding its power through territorial imperialism. China has territorial conflicts with its neighbors, is arming itself for invasion, and is threatening its neighbors, as does Russia.

Russia will be contained by the Blue Curtain, an EU defense line from the Norwegian Sea to the Caspian Sea. Russia is no match for NATO EU backed Ukraine and will be defeated. Russia is currently imploding from monetary and demographic effects.

China will be contained by the Island Curtain from the Korean Peninsula to the Malacca Straight. The Island Curtain extends from South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Philippines, Malaysia and to Singapore. The Blue Curtain and Island Curtain are backed up by Canada, United States, Britain and Australia.

China is no match for a Western Pacific Defense Pact. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan will be defeated.

China is in an extremely vulnerable position having to import nearly all its food and oil. One destroyer disposed in the Malacca Straight will shut down China. China’s navy is second rate, unable to logistically sortie into the greater Pacific and thus contained within the South China Sea, the Taiwan Strait and the East China Sea. This containment renders the Chinese Navy and amphibious craft sitting ducks in any invasion attempt. If China makes a move against Taiwan, the Chinese Navy will be destroyed entirely within days or a few weeks. China is currently imploding from monetary and demographic adverse effects.

The west expects territorial imperialism from the two great totalitarian imperial regimes, but both are and will be contained. The west built the Russian energy empire and the Chinese manufacturing empire in hopes they would embrace the liberal west as friends, but what the west got in return was hybrid warfare, threats, intimidation, war, invasions and totalitarian imperialism.

China delayed too long in its reach to conquer Taiwan, that has become a critical interest to the west, and must not be allowed to invade a peaceful sovereign Taiwan. The United States should maintain a one China policy, where the peaceful democratic government in Taipei rules over all of China.
