Free Trade Illusion

The Soviet collapse had little to do with trade, but with the inefficiency of a habitual war time economy. Putin is repeating the Soviet mistake as Russia implodes from war, infrastructure decay, monetary inflation, private business collapse, and authoritarianism of a monsterous police state.

Free trade is an illusion unless all traders engage in fair trade. Free trade requires bilateral free societies. Modernly, free trade damages post WWII UN charter of rule base order, individual sovereignty and human dignity by enabling aggressor war machines and genocide through trade.

How much unfair competition and war do you want to fund under the guise of unilateral free trade?

Free trade is an abstract idea having little value because the other side of the trade don’t think or operate like free trading Libertarians wish, or expect. Free trade proponents live in a dream world.

Simply put, Putin and Xi are not fair trading capitalistic honest libertarian free traders, and will exploit Libertarian one sided free trading agenda to slit libertarian free trader throats.

Tariffs, embargos, trade sanctions, and import duties are means to oppose unfair trade practices, limit imperialism and encourage peaceful coexistence.
